You play as a Sentinel, a creaky old mech, and you have to survive in a world where a plague has turned humans into mindless mutants who just want to kill whatever they see that doesn’t have the same virus as them. It’s a genre pretty much defined, and certainly popularised, by the sensational Vampire Survivors and while that has had plenty of clones on mobile platforms, this might be the first one we’ve seen make it across to PSN. It’s a game where you run around while hordes of enemies chase you down and you shoot, automatically, at which ever enemy is closest to you. Remedium: Sentinels is a top-down auto-shooter from Sobaka Studio and is set in the same universe as their upcoming twin-stick shooter Remedium. “REMEDIUM: Sentinels is a love letter to the iconic bullet-hell styled gameplay,” said the Sobaka Studio development team.Augin PS5 / Reviews tagged auto-shooter / mechs / remedium / sentinels / vampire survivors by Richie It all promises to come together to deliver a decent auto-shooting alternative. It’s with this which you’ll get to utilise multiple items and elements, creating unique builds on the way. Your Sentinel is well armed, coming in various guises. You’ll certainly have the tools to help though. Taking on hordes of foes will be the main objective, holding out until the death of a reactor. It’s these folk – and their cities – that you need to help defend. This time around, a hundred years have passed since the Grey Plague, with just a few left standing. The clue is pretty much in the name, with the game set in the same world as REMEDIUM. Grab a download from there and you’ll find the chance to take charge of a Sentinel. It’s the Xbox Store that is our friend though. The game is also on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC. REMEDIUM: Sentinels on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S is priced at £3.99.
